Chapter Directors:

Andy Chen, Class of 2008.
Andy has always been interested in science, and becoming a ScienceDays chapter director is his "opportunity to awaken the love of science" in young children.  He already has experience working with children.  Andy is a swim instructor for the Torrance-South Bay YMCA, and most of his students are children.   In addition, Andy worked for Kumon USA at West Torrance and Gardena, an educational enrichment program designed to tutor English and math to children 18 and under.   In addition, Andy is a competitive swimmer for Los Angeles County and for his school.  He is also the president of the National Honor Society at his school as well as the president of Amnesty International, captain of the North High Swim Team, captain of the U.S. Swimming-affiliated team Los Angeles County South Aquatics.  He is also on the fundraising board for Key Club and the board for Link Crew, a club designed to make the transition from middle school to high school for incoming freshman as pleasant as possible.

Past Chapter Directors:

2006-2007:

Sean Pi, Class of 2007, Princeton '11.
"
Our school district is notoriously known for being one of the less academic ones in our area," says Sean upon deciding to found a ScienceDays chapter at his school, "However, this is no due to the lack of bright and motivated students, rather, it is due to the lack of certain programs that will spark the imagination of such students at a young age.   Starting a ScienceDays chapter at my school will not only invigorate students at the high school level to reevaluate their goals in science and mathematics, but also help create a strong science base for students at the elementary level."  As chapter director of ScienceDays at his school, Sean collaborated with the National Honors Society.  Sean also has a passion for science research; his project -- in which he collaborated with a classmate -- was regional finalist at the 2005-2006 Siemens Competition at UC Berkeley.
